Week 7 Development
As we are preparing for the puppies to leave our home and integrate into your daily activities, it’s time to begin introducing them to collars and leashes. These key item will play a huge role in their transitions!
We will continue with each of the previously outlined exercises and activities, as these will do so much good toward the long-term healthiness & happiness of your puppy! Socialization is premier when you go home!
We will have the puppies, one at a time, become comfortable walking around the house while dragging a leash behind them. They need to be familiar with having a leash attached.
One-on-one time with each puppy walking backwards while holding their leash and encouraging them to follow you.
We will enthusiastically mark “yes” and reward puppies with a yummy treat when exercises preformed.
Puppies sleeping in crates at night, we will begin by placing 2-3 puppies in each crate. When you have puppy home. Place a blanket (I will provide) or stuffed toy inside with the puppies when they are alone in the crate to help them feel more secure. Here, we will keep the crates next to each other so the puppies can still smell one another.
